The weather compromised the tour but it made for more dramatic shots near the water's edge. There were signs in French for most of the main structures so I tended to hang back for photo ops. The weather kept most of the locals away.

... tonight for any decent dining since most things would be closed on Friday, the last night of the tour [Eyebrows, Mr and Mrs Quiet and Tobacco Man bagged]. It took 20M to get back to the hotel.

Had an hour to get some of the journal done. Found out is was The Clash that did 'Rock the Casbah'. I had even earlier managed to get party animal Tobacco Man to hum it.

For what in effect was the final splash meal in Algeria, poor form I thought for Mr and Mrs ...

... the Algiers route is not a biggie for Lufthansa. The Airbus 319-100 was parked out on a runway. Rain was our going away present.

The flight was pretty much full. Had a form to fill in and I fumbled around with it re my French [getting chunks of it wrong, the guy at customs reworking several areas].

Lunch was before 1100, seemingly an omelette topped with potatoes. The time passed as I screwed up a sudoku.

Today, 9/22, we left Algeria and flew to Rome. Yesterday was spent touring Algiers with the focus on the famous Casbah. The Casbah was originally a fortress that morphed into a residential area with tiny passageways and long stairways on the side of the hill.
