A Day at the Vatican

A travel blog entry by daynaholt

Today we spent the entire day at the Vatican Museums. What an amazing place. So much art, antiquities, and history. We took our time and soaked it all in. At the end of the day we were quite tired, but found a small restaurant near our hotel tucked away in a residential neighborhood. Good food and fun family atmosphere.

Tomorrow we plan to see the ancient ruins of Rome.

The line grew as we watched and would have taken at least two hours to get to the front by my estimates. Bugger that. We'd had enough of tourist crowds so we left. We walked down Via fella Conciliazione to Castel Sant'Angelo and had a look around the outside. We crossed the Ponte Sant'Angelo and took photos of ...

Street Views of Rome

Our introduction to the ancient city of Rome was by a well educated and very amicable Indian student who spoke fluent Italian and a hilarious version of English. Our taxi ride from the airport to our hotel was most informative. We laughed, spoke about both of our countries, and our trip ahead. I'm sure he would have shown us all of Rome if we had asked him. It was a lovely welcome to the beginning of our trip, and a true reflection of ...
