I seriously think this stuff only happens to me.

I do recognize that I have a sort of handicap in Spain. I'm vegetarian, and that is a personal choice. So I don't have much room to whine about being hungry and not finding food to eat, but I'm also the baby of 6 kids, so those whining rights play trump.

Yesterday I had dinner at a Chinese place. Yes, I'm still in Spain. And it was pretty decent. Their tomato soup was rather unique -- egg drop soup with chopped tomatoes. Better than it sounds. Then this morning I had a ...

Day 44 and 45: Amazing hospitality and naked beach

Today I woke up because my body decided it was no longer tired. This is very rare. After I had a shower, a cooked breakfast, a coffee, washed clothes (thanks to Tracy), loud music, and a game on a Nintedo wii. To put this in perspective, the previous morning I was chased by a tractor and ran over a perfectly flat dog. We felt like kings.

We then spent a majority of the day relaxing and drinking the beer Tracy gave us and decided to cook her dinner as ...

Day 43- Maggoty chickens and Naked Beachs

Air raid sound. Thats how we woke up this time. Although, no air raid, just a noise a near by factory makes every now and then. SO, considering I was up early thought I would go for a run and I ended up getting chased by a massive tractor and saw a flat dog. Nevertheless this would be a good and, hopefully, normal day because we had planned to arive in Vera where we would meet Tracy (one of my ...

The best villages& beaches on Costa del Sol. OLEY!

... be worth it. The streets in the villages are so narrow that cars actually scrape your car if it is
parked. We ended up with quite a few scrapes.

We got on the E-15 to Palomares but there is one problem. In Spain they have roundabouts and you have to know exactly where to get off otherwise you get lost. We ended up in the town of Vera and being next door to Palomares we knew we were close. There ...

dragged myself away from San Jose

I had to wean myseft away from the area, and the next day just drove a bit up the coast, past more un(der)-developed beaches at Escullos and El Playazo, and ended up staying in Las Negras, another fishing village which is sleepy by the water-front but with massive construction going on behind it.

Back to San Jose

Returned to San Jose. Next day drove around to the town of Cabo de Gata, saw the salt-pans, went up the the "Cape", saw the incredible beach of Cabo de Gata, had great lunch there, then went around to the beach at Monsul. Eventually decided I HAD to leave!!

Trip to Mini-Hollywood

... me €2.50 to park, I then paid an exorbitant €19 entry, and since it was getting on went and had an OK self-service meal - also over-priced. There wasn't much to see; a museum of old cinema projectors, old buildings, and a zoo. The latter was rather curious. I stayed around for the "shoot-em-up" show. About all that was worth it in an overpriced trip. As for the countryside, I was underwhelmed as it was nothing like as spectacular as the Copper Canyon in Mexico.

Saying Goodbye to Spain

... the difference. It made me feel like I'd really accomplished something in my two months there. It is really hard to guage the change on a day to day basis. On our last day, we headed for the mountains and took in a day of snowboarding, although the snow is quickly melting away. That evening we went to the home of Pepita, Pierce's Spanish mom of six years ago. It was a fantastic experience. She has two other American students with her now. The ...

Birthday Blues

... want chocolate instead of Vanilla Sin). You can actually feel the small sugar crystals a TON more than back at home. It´s still good stuff though. I am disliking Spanish desserts very much. Those who know me, know this is HORRIBLE and I survive on sugar. I have also started to drink Diet Coke because it tastes a TON better here without so many preservatives. I am off to lunch but know that I love you all and am empty without you!!! See you soon enough, Steph
