... it starts to rain but as we ride over the last pass of the day at Katchberg the rain stops and we swing down this lovely road to Gmund and the entrance to the Valley of the Waterfalls.
We arrive at Gasthof Hochalmspitze to be greeted by John and Ros Gowers, the English owners of this bikers' haven in the Austrian Alps.

... in Europe felt the same way, as there were probably more than at IOM TT. We found a glacier by taking a wrong turn, but not as spectacular as the ones in NZ. The most beautiful bells chimed out in unison all around us on Sunday morning at our hotel - perfect. We had lunch in a gorgeous little village called Heiligenblut, that overlooked a beautiful valley.
We will have very special memories of this area forever ...
Happy Birthday to Kieran today!! Birthday call was the first task for the day!! Austria has been wonderful thus far, has the grit of Germany but the sophistication of France, great blend and some wonderful sights. They don't tolerate bad behaviour and everyone is very orderly, but at the same time welcoming and friendly. ... above the valley. The others went on about 200m to the Steiner Alm for apple strudel and to find a nice spot to eat their lunch. Four people continued a bit further past the Alm to view a waterfall. Meanwhile, Ron, Jan and myself decided to take a National Park walking track cross-country instead of going back down the road.
