Italian leather... a girl's best friend

... But Florence isn’t hard to navigate either. If you know the few big roads and the general direction of places, you can’t really get lost. I found a food market (since I love markets) and wandered around a while, and bought the beans that my mom had specifically requested, then went to meet Katy and Steve. We then went to the Duomo, where we took pictures and I lit candles for Granddaddy and my boss’s sister, then hung out and took in ...

Thanksgiving

... Cranberry Sauce, Stuffing, Potatoes, and Mixed Vegetables. For dessert pumpkin pie, ice cream, and apple cider! It was nice to spend the night with classmates and a few professors.

Friday night, we had yet another Thanksgiving with all of my friends. Everyone prepared their favorite dish and we spent the night telling stories of our families Thanksgivings.

Thursday caught a bus to Siena with Nonie and Kerrin.
The Duomo there is one of the best and most beautiful churches I've seen inside and out - and I've seen more than enough churches to last ...

Cooking Class

Hi Everyone!

After an exhausting weekend in Brussels, I was in for yet another treat with cooking classes in Florence. Organized by my school, a group of us met with a chef for some lessons.

We were taught how to prepare typical Tuscan cuisine including Ribollita and Stuffed zucchini-flowers.

Everything was delicious & I look forward to trying these recipes at home!

... and strange definitions for words that probably aren’t even really words that we hear as we’re walking along. We’ve laughed when we’ve tried to order something in a restaurant or ask a question in a store and gotten completely unexpected results.

Now, we’re staying in a beautiful house in the countryside south of Florence. It’s quite a change from the city life. We have a very nice rental car to get ...

Two Days in Siena

Italy Day 13

We got up for breakfast and then off to the Riders meeting. Many riders were either tired or not feeling well so a hand full decided not to ride. We joined the club but decided to take the bus into Siena. On the ride in we missed our bus stop and ended up a few km out of town. We walked back into town taking in the neighborhoods on the way. Just before entering the old city walls we stopped for pizza then started to explore old Siena. Our first stop was to the ...

An Unaffordable Adventure

... a time. I thought about buying a wallet, but for 150 euros I figured I could see a whole new country. Perhaps, when I have a job and care about the small triangle on the front of my wallet that says Prada I will splurge for one, but until then it is not a priority. After one hour, we went to The Mall which is located on the outskirts of Florence. Here they had 20 stores including Gucci, Armani, Fendi, Max Mara, Miu Miu, Valentino ...

tourists and gold

I arrived in Florence around midday to find only a locked door. I knew from the start this would be a difficult stay. trying to quell the misgivings of the natives would be a difficult task, but I had to do it. while waiting for the key mistress to arrive at my place of residence and open the damned door for me i found some Canadian scallywags I had commandeered for part of my crew back in Nice. My fierce pirating abilities were too much for them ...

Florence Almighty....

... books. And i can se why they reccomended it!!!! There were probably over 30 different kinds of Gelato, and for €5.00 you could get five diferent scoops. So we did that. I had a Caramel Pannecotta, chocolate fondant (which later i found out was the best thing ever!), one with coconut, hazelnuts, and almonds that was divine, banana, and the riso one (which is rice, but really really good!). But yes. after that we were in "Gelato Zone", so we had to walk very ...

Florence

... looking at it while Camella translated all the mosaics and told the stories. It was a very educational trip. We then headed out to find a supermarket so we could buy some food so Camella could make me a lovely home cooked meal for my birthday. After a wee while we spotted a restaurant that had a three course meal for €11 service included. So we decided that with the time as it was this was a better option. I'm glad we did, as I believe it was one of the nicest meals and ...
