... it was time to head back down the mountain. The gondola ride back down took a while and it started to rain. We had to share our gondola with a pair of confused Asians, who didn't know what was going on when Dean got off early - he wanted to do the scooter ride down the rest of the way! ... at full capacity, as we make the final stretch up to the pass. Finally, 3 hours from when we started, we top the ridge and a phenomenal view opens up before us. I can't see it through all the sweat rolling into my eyes, but I know it is there. We take our packs off and admire the view all our sweat and hard work has gotten us to. We entered Switzerland and took a long, narrow, very windy road up over the Swiss Alps. The pass isn’t always open this early in the year.
