After a pretty good night's rest (although the morning started early - ish around 5am) it has been a fun and lazy day hanging about with Len and Peta.
The early morning was soft, gentle rain and it was magic to hear my favourite bird, the kookaburra, laughing as the sun came up. I will yet get a video so you can hear these foolish creatures laugh (they are lovingly called laughing jackasses by the Aussies).
We didn't leave as early as we had expected - daylight savings!! we haven't got used to it yet.
We had a trouble free trip, the sat nav managed to get us there with only 1 hitch - and on time as well.
It was pretty hot today as well but we had a lovely swim in the pool in the afternoon, other than that there isn't much to report today.
We will be doing some sightseeing ...
... it's still raining but the temperature is good- and the cloud cover is negating the sun risk. 2 hours on from the stop, a sign says "No services until Gosford", which I know is the next big town from my route card. Idiotically, I failed to buy any food to carry with me at the last stop. Schoolboy error - I'm feeling fine now, but know that I will eventually run out of energy. Twilight is arriving now too. Never mind, it's not that far, and the road is going down now. ...
I guess that it is appropriate that my last entry in my travel blog is one that is written at midnight on day 3 of being home. This is my first dose of jet lag......... In dubai it was an early morning pick up for our 850am flight.. No traffic and and easy run to the airport. Emirates has their own terminal so it was a very easy bag check in..... Mine weighed in at 28kg. Nice job Jen! Then off through the usual passport, immigration, xray ...
Our lunch stop was just short of Swansea at Caves Beach.
This was another beautiful beach and the conditions were perfect here too.
The caves were very interesting with lots of interesting rock formations and faults. It was close to low tide so we could walk through the caves.
We bought some lunch at the surf club and ate it on the foreshore
