... very different than it is today, there were fields and farms among many of the streets that are now neighbourhoods. Anyways back to the story, a couple months after my dads arrival at the KM 11 church another priest came by (the priest from the KM 22 area...which was more of a "shanty town" (houses built of straw mats) and haciendas (ranches). So Padre Dennis came by and asked if one of the priests from the Km 11 church would accompany him, the other two priests at my dads ...
... to a local dessert place for picarones and coffee. After, I am super tired from a long day and way, way too much food. So, Ceci drops us off at Nene's for a well deserved night's rest.
Today (Thursday) I will be off to Callao, the major port of Lima ,w/ the fam. If I don't get smuggled on to a ship, I'll be back later to tell the tell and Peruvian pirates and wenches.
... to (and am quasi-trained to) only pack one bag for travel, I ended up taking a whopping four...but two don't count because they were absolutely loaded down with medical supplies for Puno and Lima. Surprisingly, there were absolutely NO hiccups, I was able to transport all of the medical supplies without a hitch, and I didn't even have to bribe anyone - which, by the way, I was told by the research coordinator that I may have ...
Today we left our B&B in Miraflores to continue our adventure to Paracas, 3.5 hours down the coast from Lima. Angelo, the lovely owner of the B&B, flagged down a taxi and haggled for it for us. We could make out some of the haggling, and they settled on "ocho soles", which is around 2GBP. We hopped into the taxi, clutching onto our luggage and had a hair-raising nine minute drive to the Cruz Del Sur bus station on Javier Prado. ...

Charming, well-appointed hotel set in former home of famous Peruvian archaeologist Julio C Tello. Original murals on walls and fabulous location 5 mins from Larcomar shopping centre. Walking distance to shops and markets in Miraflores. 24 hour reception, safe location, wonderful beds, pillows, patios, breakfast included. Served us 4:30 am breakfast to accommodate our early flight.
