... to the cathedral. Now, cathedrals are supposed to be something special. This one was OK, but hardly memorable. Sadly, we got the feeling that Porto, especially around the areas where we were, with its tourists and its graffiti was somewhat disappointing. After we left the cathedral, Brian had this brilliant idea of walking down to the waterfront. Thank goodness we had gravity on our side as we negotiated the hundreds of steps. We kept ...

... destination some 300km away. The traffic was quite light, which made things a lot easier. After driving through some very picturesque countryside, we arrived at Viseu at about 4pm, some 29 hours after we left Paris. Considering we'd had only about three hours of sleep we were holding up remarkably well. A pleasant surprise awaited us at Viseu. Brian has always liked the idea of the Portugese pousadas, those grand historic buildings which have ...

A simple ride in the park

A few of the fast guys got me before the summit of our ride, which was at 1993m. The climb was 19k, and1000m. Just a blast coming down ... As I like to call it the fat boy section. Just flying downhill., As hard as the day was the park we rode in does have awesome views, well worth the ...

... in. Surprisingly I wasn't the last guy in. We had stopped for a cafe, just as two guys were leaving. Had some awesome ham and cheese sandwich ... Bonus item for me :) just one mini beer . We were there for a while so I didn't think the two guys would be catchable. Leslie and I got into our own pace, with Nate staying with Leslie. At about five k to go, I saw the two guys in front of me on some nasty switchbacks. Got the ...

We spent some time driving around Porto to see all the sites and then spent some time wandering around buying souvenirs and eating lunch. After lunch we visited Graham's Port House where we were given a guided tour plus tasting. We then returned to the hotel for ...
