Transition from Tourist to Tour Guide

... parents to Da Franco’s- a favorite pizza place of the students in my program. It also happened to be Mardi Gras, so we watched from the town square as children dressed up like it was Halloween and had quite the celebration, throwing confetti and spraying silly string every which way. We finished this evening at Ristorante Tasso with Tsu as our guest of honor- it was of course delicious.

All prepared to go ...

... most of the site is closed off to the public, my small taste of the Roman life left me wanting more. To spend a day, or even a week, at Pompeii would not be enough for me. There is just so much there to see and take it. The most astounding sight for me was a wall painting of a snake, still complete with individual markings of scales.

Overall, this trip really opened my eyes to the wonders of Italy and leaves me only with a desire for more.

Hiking in Vesuvius National Park

A travel blog entry by elohim

Many tourists looking down the crater as we do, few follow a guided tour cicling the whole monster. We add another hike downhills. Some spots have little or no vegetation yet. You see the structure of the lava flows. We meet some mushroom collectors. I collect some Vesuvuis gravel I plan to make art with back home. Heavy stuff - I guess it contains quite some share of iron.
