... a door marked "Last waiting room"! Here our hand luggage was security scanned using an Air Canada set up and we sat down to wait in a surprisingly well air conditioned room. Amazingly enough a reasonably sized turboprop plane (an ATR72 - must look that up) landed competently at about 8:30am and taxied to the door. ... related to the Taíno people and though the cave museum was small, our informative guide brought the exhibits to life. We saw carvings, amulets and bones, the latter of which provided insight into the Taíno tradition of binding childrens foreheads with wooden blocks, to flatten them and produce the aesthetic ideal. Merry Christmas. Honestly, I didn't realize it was Christmas till 11am! This morning we had breakfast at the hotel, and our group took a bus to the nearest airport. This was the most interesting airport I have ever been to. One room inside and a bunch of chairs outside. Quite an experience. ... there is a lot of Cuba time here. James wasn't impressed with his lobster which tasted of ammonia. Still it was a lovely party, happy birthday being sung in English and Spanish and many cocktails being consumed. The bicycle taxis waited for us and back in to town.
