Greetings, still from San Antonio;

Yesterday was a quiet day. Our only real activity was to go visit The Alamo. Walking inside the museum was very reminiscent of many of the Churches we have visited in Italy. There is a sense of quiet and reverence about what happened there. It was a moving experience. Pictures are not allowed in the museum but I did snap one of the outside.

Before I forget, let me tell you about our last dinner in New Orleans. We ate at John Besh's place Domenica, which is Italian for Sunday. It was a really authentic Italian trattoria, very informal and family friendly. We slept in this morning and headed downstairs to the Dragon's Revenge slide when the park opened at 10am. Brynn got scared but everyone else rode, and afterwards we spent quite awhile at the Alligator River which was super fun. After that was Boogie Bahn and Katie and Annie both held on and did great for their first try. Then another go on the Alligator River. ... out where he lived, trained, and marched (mostly marched). We stopped at their Air Field museum. It has planes that have flown Air Force wide throughout its history. Moody Air Force base has a small one with just the planes that have been flown at that base. This air field is also where they hold the graduations for the trainees. It was already so hot out there I can't imagine standing out there in full uniform! We both got a farmer's tan from walking around ...

... money to Texas!! I took a picture of a sign outside . . . assuring us that everything was 100% Mexican!! We did observe that there are many more items in the shops that are part of the 'Day of the Dead' celebration in Mexico (Día de los Muerto), celebrated in November.

The Alamodome is near the train station. I took a picture of it at dusk . . . interesting structure, suspended by cables from 4 pylons.
