Day of Rest: Antwerp
... painter Peter-Paul Rubens, whose epic Triptychs and paintings are on display throughout Antwerp Cathedral.
The cathedral is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and the Counter-reformation has left her likeness on walls and street corners throughout Antwerp. In the main square, the Napoleonic indifference to religion and emphasis on civic power is on display in the city’s extraordinary town hall. , much more lavish than though very little of it is used ...

... top with souvenirs as well as expensive. It was none of these though, managing to retain its small town charm despite the hordes of tourists flooding the streets even in winter. The prices of food and things were also a lot cheaper than other places, which is unusual for a tourist hotspot.
We wandered through the town (took about 10 minutes) and bought some fresh waffles from a stand for a warm snack. We saw many of the sights that we recognised from the movie ...
Brussels
... It turned out the the atomium is 8km from the centre, and in a uphill direction. I was pretty lost but just following his direction. At one point i was cycling on a motorway and passed the city limit sign, after quite a few beeping cars I decided to carry the bike over a ditch and off the motorway. I was almost ready to turn back when I saw the atomium on the horizon. It took me a good hour to get there but the sense of achievement was immense ...
It's WEDDING DAY in Antwerp!!

Once we made our way through the festiveness we hopped back in our respective cars and caravanned back to Wim’s parent’s house “to take a breath” and mingle with the rest of the family before heading off to the reception later in the ...

Since the Black Madonna of Prague I’ve begun to notice the existence of statues on several street corners, both in Utrecht, Middleburg and now Antwerp. A few here have their own little roof to protect from the ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Britselei 37 Antwerp
Tolles Hotel/Apartment
I proprietari era sempre gentili e disponibili.
Great Hotel/Apartment
Stayed at Britselei 37, while doing a Triathlon in Antwerp. The apartment was very well furnished with excellent facilities. The owners were at all times very friendly and helpful. They really made an effort to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Britselei 37 is about a 10-15min walk from the heart of Antwerp.
Absolutely phantastic!
we stayed at the britselei 37 with our 4 month old baby. the set up was perfect, the rooms all appear to consist of a living / kitchen area, a spacious bedroom and a bathroom. everything was extremely clean, new, the furniture tasteful, and a comp fridge filled with wine, water, juice, yoghurt, etc. the hotel does not have a restaurant but to be honest we did not miss this at all as we were given bread, spreads and had fresh croissants delivered to our room for breakfast. there was absolutely nothing i could complain about, i have not yet stayed at a better, more beautiful and clean hotel so far. while it is not located right in next to the old church, the walk to most attractions is extremely short. highly recommended!
Friendly owners, beautiful room
The hotel rooms are in a grand, converted townhouse which looks to be late 1800's or early 1900's. Our room had 14 foot ceilings with beautiful painted decoration, 2 non-working original fireplaces, high windows and original hardwood floors with inlay.
The owners installed small, modern kitchens stocked with an espresso machine (they include the coffee) and a refrigerator with beer and wine! The bathrooms are also modern and include 2 sinks.
The owners went out of their way to make car, dinner and taxi reservations for my wife and me. The restaurant choice was amazing. And I even came home to dried and folded clothes after doing some "emergency" wash in the sink.
For business, the free internet and car service made my stay quite easy. This is much better value for money than most any hotel I've stayed in.
Highly recommended.
