... to have issues). The idea was a good one, if the execution left something to be desired. Some of the instruments I was most curious about they apparently had no recordings of, while it would have been nice to have had the instruments grouped more thematically, such that one could hear the different varieties of violins, for example, in succession so as to better appreciate the differences. Downstairs, they had some of the tools and processes for church-bell ...

... in two weeks, we made the most of this time by eating chocolate and drinking beer and using the hotel internet to plan the next leg of our trip, driving through France! Our last day in Brussels, we slept in, visited the Comic museum- which was really interesting but hard to follow as most of it was in French and Dutch, who would have thought! What did we have for our last meal you might wonder? Beer, Frites and Chocolate! Thanks for reading! Ella & ...

... several little coffee shops all joined
together. People were milling around
drinking coffee and beer!

To board our flight for Munich,
we were taken by bus into the middle of the runway - giving way to Jumbos and
other air craft, as you do, to reach our plane.
It was rather cold (-50 C) given that we didn't have any
coats on but once on the aircraft it was okay.
We ended up with a window seat, which in one way ...

A Bevy of Belgian Beers

... people would speak Belgian, though if needed, they can speak in rough English as well.

It is only week two, and I am already tired of seeing churches and museums. I spend most of my time trying to find small shops where I can read, or large parks to sit in for an hour or two. Yesterday I feel asleep in a park adjacent to parliament, and received the seasons first sunburn. It felt great, I have to say.

Now it is bed time!

Approaching Antwerp Sunday 15th April 2012

Woke up this morning and looked out of the window at land – with buildings and ordinary things like that. Quite different to the normal fare of sea, sea and a bit more sea!

We came through a lock to get into this part of the port ...

    Tolles Hotel/Apartment

I proprietari era sempre gentili e disponibili.

    Great Hotel/Apartment

Stayed at Britselei 37, while doing a Triathlon in Antwerp. The apartment was very well furnished with excellent facilities. The owners were at all times very friendly and helpful. They really made an effort to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Britselei 37 is about a 10-15min walk from the heart of Antwerp.

    Absolutely phantastic!

we stayed at the britselei 37 with our 4 month old baby. the set up was perfect, the rooms all appear to consist of a living / kitchen area, a spacious bedroom and a bathroom. everything was extremely clean, new, the furniture tasteful, and a comp fridge filled with wine, water, juice, yoghurt, etc. the hotel does not have a restaurant but to be honest we did not miss this at all as we were given bread, spreads and had fresh croissants delivered to our room for breakfast. there was absolutely nothing i could complain about, i have not yet stayed at a better, more beautiful and clean hotel so far. while it is not located right in next to the old church, the walk to most attractions is extremely short. highly recommended!

    Friendly owners, beautiful room

The hotel rooms are in a grand, converted townhouse which looks to be late 1800's or early 1900's. Our room had 14 foot ceilings with beautiful painted decoration, 2 non-working original fireplaces, high windows and original hardwood floors with inlay.

The owners installed small, modern kitchens stocked with an espresso machine (they include the coffee) and a refrigerator with beer and wine! The bathrooms are also modern and include 2 sinks.

The owners went out of their way to make car, dinner and taxi reservations for my wife and me. The restaurant choice was amazing. And I even came home to dried and folded clothes after doing some "emergency" wash in the sink.

For business, the free internet and car service made my stay quite easy. This is much better value for money than most any hotel I've stayed in.

    Highly recommended.
