... stepped rice fields and some villiages. This was an eventfull day as firstly we wern't given enough fuel to get to the petrol station, and then the moped wouldn't start after lunch so we had to get that fixed in the middle of nowhere which was an expirence, managed to argue half the money back of the bike owner which was an effort in itself.

In ha long bay now will write next entry when we have something to say.

Laters ...
Sapa, Vietnam deardens2... should have enough but as with most Asian families, she has to share her stock with her family and she has lots of brothers and sisters.

The girls from the hill tribes speak English amazingly well, better than the people in Hanoi! It's probably due to the fact that the Church gets them up at 4:45 with its bells, school starts at 7:00 AM and finishes at 4:30 PM. The kids could learn 10 different languages with hours like that! Their schooling is done ...
Lao Cai, Vietnam bebabui
Today we're
trekking through the mountainside to visit the villages of the H'mong
and Red Dao people. The Sa Pa valley is breathtaking – mountains
on all sides. After arriving in Lao Cai at 5 in the morning we
arrived in Sa Pa – had breakfast, packed up a small bag (at the
breakfast table of course) and met our H'mong guide Chinh. Chinh is
tiny, as all the H'mong women are, but she is an incredibly fast
walker and strong. She ...
Sapa, Vietnam carlaandmikeWell, would you believe it, a typhoon blew up in Halong Bay, and all the boat trips were cancelled. (Of course, my tour company didn't bother telling me until I'd checked out of my hotel and sat waiting for nearly an hour) So here I am, still in Hanoi, at a bit of a loose end. I've re-booked the trip for tomorrow - hope it goes ahead :)

In the meantime, I thought I'd tell you about my trip to Sapa. It was, quite simply, fantastic ...
Sapa, Vietnam karenpelham... by a child pushing a wheel with a stick!! when we arrived at our accomodation we were both pleasantly surprised. it was a large heavy framed building, like a barn really, but very homely on the inside. it was basically one huge room, with a number of beds that could be curtained off from the rest of the room, and a second smaller room that acted as a kitchen, with all cooking being done on an open fire. outside there were two bamboo structures ...
Sapa, Vietnam marklawless1... In the evening we helped our guide to cook traditional Vietnamese dishes over a charcoal stove. The feast was amazing which we shared around a big table with the family and drank lots of rice wine. After a few games of cards we retired for the night before another days trekking in the mountains.

13th September
Had a really good nights sleep thankfully and the cold shower was outside with the spiders. Sapa, Vietnam alyson.morgan

Sapa has been interesting. It started out with one hell of a stomach virus, it had me bed ridden for a day. Full on, constant stomach aches. It was bad. I kept a diet of breads and water. One morning I woke up at 5:15 and couldn’t go back to sleep, so I took a walk around town. I was walking along the sidewalk when a beautiful woman stepped out and approached me. I recognized her immediately, it was Linda, the French girl that we rode on the bus with us from ...

Sapa, Vietnam perez_r... print about only getting to eat part of your meal... cause the waiter came to take it away half way through eating. After convincing him to bring the meal back, I also asked for a napkin to wipe the sauce from my face. With no luck I ended up going to the toilet and grabbing some toilet paper. After dinner we did a quick lap around the night market where the boys go to pick a wife. I wasn't chosen so I went home with the one I have. Better luck next time.
