    I just totted up the total distance we pedaled between Rome and Canterbury - it comes to 1,892Km (or 1,182 miles).

    The ride from Canterbury to where Ian's car was parked near Gatwick was a further 137Km, split by the overnight stop at Tunbridge Wells.

    Arriving in Portsmouth yesterday we drove to Southampton ( only 15 mins away) and met up with our old friends Tony and Mary, although poor Mary was recovering from a bout of Norovirus which is rampant in the UK this Christmas.     It all began with a few tasty pancakes (sometimes cooked on a super stove on the beach or at Hengistbury Head) and some idle discussions as to the best pancake combinations and fillings/toppers.
