... road had been flooded out in 9 places which essentially meant I had to do the 19km in before returning on the same path. Pretty tiring after doing a long one the day before, but the longer trip more or less meant I had the trail to myself, and for once I was happy not to blast myself out with metal! Went past a few lakes to reach the summit, which was one of the best views I have ever seen, with big forests, mountains and glacial lakes - check out the pictures at the bottom ...

... the first portion of our visit at Crandell Mountain campground with minimal facilities and incredible views of the mountains and bears frolicking on the slopes! Needless to say, while in bear country you keep food put away and the bear spray handy! We hiked up to Lake Crandall (with Mom ever vigilant for bears) and strolled around the small lake. The next day we embarked on a rather windy bike tour along the Kootenai Brown Trail which begins in the town ...
