... find a small conch, but not much else. A women we met shared a rumor that there was a sawfish in the little inlet, but we saw no sign of that.

As the sun started going down, we headed over to the tennis courts to play a few games and it was great. After a quick shower it was up to the Bunker unit for a great chicken dinner and some rummicub.

The road opened up and became flat and we found an amazing spot to park the van. It was right off the Atlantic and a bay and surrounded by forest. We got a polystyrene cool box and ice for the drinks (thanks to the Gardners ...

... was illuminating the darkened skies, and thunder was shaking our bones. Perfect weather for camping! The storm lasted about 30 minutes and then we drove out the other end as if nothing had happened. Jon had forgotten to pack a rain jacket so we stopped at Walmart to pick one up; five days later when we got home and unpacked we discovered he had one in his bag all along. It’s no surprise he couldn’t find it, though, as it was buried underneath enough clothing and supplies ...

... I leave the marina to run errands, I encounter dessicated iguanas, roadkill victims to the incessant traffic. To me, these iguanas have come to symbolize the general population in Marathon, ie, far too many nonnatives living in a concrete jungle. And the Jimmy Buffet thing is way overdone.

Lucky us, we are staying at the marina and are on the water where it is beautiful and wild. The marina itself has a laid back attitude with a culture of its own. It is a ...
