The boat journey down the Amazon took about three days and on the third night we pulled into the port of Santarem . Jane had fully recoverd from the trauma of waking to find herself covered in giant beetles and overall the Amazon experience was really enjoyable.
From Santarem we got a bus to Alter do Chao. It's called something like the Caribbean of the Amazon .
