Up,, packed and bags out at 7am, off to breakfast, 5th floor, lovely view of the city, walked up to the pool, was inviting but not open until 9am, after we have gone. On the bus & into Florence city to begin our walking tour, went through the Galleria dell' Accademia to see the original statue of David, after sitting outside for 400 years they decided to move it inside to prevent damage. ... Walking through the palace. Very impressive.

The second tour was a 2 hour walking tour of the St Marks area. The tour guide was great and we learned a lot we wouldn't have on our own. (Google images, and see the uneven pavement outside and inside the basilica in our photos...or even look at the height of the columns on the doges palace - there's only half left because as they've built pavers up higher and higher over the years).

... and a church and sit under a tree, looking at the map we realise we have just about walked to the next region, or suburb,Arsenale (was the old dock yards back in the 12th Centuary). This has taken over an hour. We think we know where we went wrong, back track and get lost again. I had the wrong marking on the map so we weren't really were we thought we were. Around another corner and ... ****.. who the bloody hell knows where we are.
