... brick , hiding breathtaking mosaics are br . You are only allowed in there for 15 mins at a time to help preserve these amazing jewel like images.

ENJOY the pics ...... We were snapping away like turtles .... Noel has many many more if you are interested in a slide night ...... !!!

We are now heading back towards the centre of Italy ......Tuscany here we come......

... to go big! We were all feeling it in the morning. We sleep in, then fought through our hangover todo some shopping! Jess and I spend the day shopping around while Ben had a wander in his own. We all met up for dinner in the center of town. We then went for gelato before I have to take the night train to head to Lake Bled, Slovenia. It was sad to say goodbye to Jess and Ben. We had a great week traveling together. It's felt much longer and was so much fun! We plan to meet up again next ...

... a magnificent mosaic feature over and around the alter. The mosaics survived the troubled times including WWII but not all the Greek marble remained in place. A number of churches were built in the area and the monks abandoned the Basilica for some time. In this time, the marble was removed/stolen. Marble from some of the other churches was recovered from their ruins and installed in the church.

... for the masses of tourists. I reckon that there is an umbrella on the beaches on the east coast of Italy for every man, women and child who reside in Italy. There are heaps! Lots of little cafes and bars as well as play areas for the kids.

We continued until the 30km mark before we had a break. A large bottle of fizzy water was consumed before we jumped back on the bikes. The next water break was at 40km due to the heat. I checked ...

... secondary road for about 10km and then we hit the beach. Wow. Umbrella areas set up in front of cafes and huts. The umbrellas were grouped in their colours - yellow and green, yellow and white, red and blue. A marvelous sight, just like you see in magazines and in the movies. There were heaps of people on the beaches, sun baking on the banana lounges and swimming in the beautiful blue water.
