... into the biggest city wide “car boot sale” you have ever seen and our only purchase being a couple of yards of fine net curtain (to be turned into fly screen for the hatches and door). We had a bratwurst sausage for our lunch which was absolutely lovely and Isi had to follow it with a big ice cream! (see picture)

... Crusade. The parade told the whole story of the Old and the New Testament and depicted the Crusades and various aspects of medieval life in Brugge. There were camels, mounted crusaders, peasants with flocks of sheep and donkeys, falcons, carriages and wagons drawn by magnificent Belgian horses, marching bands, choirs, dancers and a glockenspiel finale. I left Amsterdam and made my final border crossing before home in to Belgium. I arrived in Bruges via Antwerp. The original plan had been to do Brussels first and then finish in Bruges but due to airfares back I switched round.
