    However, the diversity was quite impressive. Walking along the streets, you could tell that this place had the charm of Toronto, New York and Amsterdam in that you had people of all races everywhere in the city.     Another weekend another city. This time the biggest city in the Southern Hemisphere. We hopped straight onto the Metro and found our way to Vila Madalena. Metro with backpacks is a little unpleasant. It was raining buckets and we got drenched walking to find a hostel.     ... sort of. No flight left later than 30+ after the posted departure time. Huge signs in Sao Paulo airport demanded you be at the gate 2 hours prior to flight. We were there earlier than demanded. We were the only people in the airport, only people at security, only people in "Doodie Free", the only people at the gate until about 15 minutes prior to departure time. Not boarding time, leaving the gate time. This happened at every single airport. When in Rome.....
