    While researching flights to different Latin American countries, I learned that flights out of Rio de Janeiro were all routed through Sao Paulo. The difference in cost from Rio and Sao Paulo airports was significant (as much as $400US) so I had decided to take the bus from Rio to Sao Paulo (about $40 US) and fly out of there.
