      ... of Venice (thankfully there was a lift). Trip in gondola.....extraordinary, felt quite emotional. Asked how much the gondola's cost - between 30,000 & 40,000 euro, hand made in small factory of 3 people. Need to get photo's from Bron & Col as my camera battery had run out, not happy..... Restaurant for dinner, back to Hotel & fell into bed, very, very tired, after lovely day. Monday, 13th October Left Venice 8am, Water Taxi to station 2 ...

      ... myself good time to get ready. The washing I had done the night before needed another wringing out and I opened the bathroom window to hang a couple of pieces on the railing outside my window.       ... but except for the state rooms of the apartment that we saw they said the actual living area was small compared to what most Doge's would have lived in prior to being Doge. This was on purpose to remind the Doge he served the Republic not the other way around.

      The state rooms and council chambers were amazing and over the top really. The Republic government was a little strange indeed with many special councils and the Grand Council ...

      So we hopped a ferry for a 10 minute ride out to Murano island to see where all the Murano Glass comes from. We saw some glass blowing and moulding, and Sue and I entertained buying a beautiful cavallo (horse). We were taken out to see where they kept the fancy stuff, offered coffee, a special price because it was raining, etc, etc. Spruiking ...
