... crater. It was incredible that you could see directly into it, seeing the bubbling liquid and the huge plumes I steam coming off. The only downside though was the lovely rotting egg smell you get from the sulphur. After spending a long time looking at these amazing views we headed back to the hotel. Half of us walked but Adam and the others paid for a motorbike (dirt bike) to take them back down, which did look like a lot of fun! Love love ...

After a very bumpy 3 hour bus we arrive in Bukit Lawang, a village on the edge of the Gunung Leuser national park, one of only 2 homes in the world for orangutans. We're greeted at the bus station by 2 guides and transported into the village where they insist on showing us accommodation. This feels wrong to us as we don't want to pay their commission but they assure us there is no commission and they don't wish to leave us so we eventually settle on a room at ...
