We stayed here as part of a tour but felt trapped by the location and lack of nearby alternative amenities. If you stay here you have to depend on the hotels occasional waterfront shuttles (or pay taxis), eat at their restaurant (good, but not Kuching's best), pay their outrageous laundry fees (if you need to refresh like we did) and hang out at the hotel in the evenings (shuttle stops running). Otherwise its tired and poorly maintained (needs paint, repairs, etc) but clean and provides good friendly service.

In my opinion the hotel cost is also high given the location, age, low level of maintenance and amenities. We liked being near the waterfront in a higher class hotel for the same rate better.

Ambience just perfect, cold beer, good wine, exquisite food, saltwater pool, outside shower, cute receptionist - what more could you ask for

Returning to Kuching felt like coming home. We enjoyed great Chicken Rice and Sarawak Laksa and then deviated from our usual routes and visited the Sarawak Musuem and adjacent aquarium. Knowing Gem's limited attention span when in comes to museums, I hadn't expected much from Bardy. But he performed outstandingly and after an hour of excitedly …

Day 24: We arrived early in Kuching, Borneo at the Basaga hotel before having a wander around the local shops. We then met the rest of the group and had our first meal together and got to know one another before the real adventure begins.

... and coca-cola and ended up paying RM 11.

With our tanks filled up we took a boat to cross the Sarawak River (RM 0,50 per person) and were dropped off next to the Astana which is supposed to be the official residence of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, the Governor of Sarawak. Unfortunately we weren´t allowed to enter so we went to the orchid garden which was free of charge but at the same time quite boring. On this side of the river there was also the entrance to the ...

Birthday gift, but Boo doesn't believe me. We were hoping that the bus just wasn't running in the morning, so we went to the bus stop at the time it should have shown up...but it didn't. The ranger said there was another bus stop about a 30 minute walk down the road (different bus). We had 30 minutes to get there, and ...
