We had elected to go snorkeling which was a good choice, as we are by now feeling all churched, museumed, history and facted out, and there is nothing as relaxing as swimming amongst a school of fish in a clear ocean to make one feel chilled out! ... to a different destination and your flight's been cancelled. Nevertheless, we made it to Rio. Found our hotel, the Santa Clara, and our attention was drawn to a list of rules, copies of which were posted on every available wall space. "Pets are not allowed to entertain in rooms", we were warned. Well, fair enough. Also, apparently guests of the opposite sex were not allowed to stay overnight in ...

... d been teaching English in Mexico for the past 9 months and was going to try and do the same in Rio. We did the touristy stuff I`d been saving until he got here - Christ the Redeemer, which was smaller than we had expected - but still stunning, and Sugar Loaf, this time by day-light...and some of the famous Rio nightlife - but less written about that the better. Eat at lots of all you can eat and pay by weight my haircut and dyed it ...
