We woke up early to get in one last snorkel before setting off on a 130 km drive to Ubud. We decided to check out the Bio Rock snorkel spot, a bit further down the beach than where we had been snorkeling before. They had lots of metal structures in the water where the coral was starting to re-grow. The water was much deeper than where we had been so we decided to return to Chris' Garden to see the fish up a bit closer. We were glad we did – since we were ...

... and illness, to go to more of the temples we wanted to see. Yet we did see the two sides of Bali. On one side was the massive terrible tourism side, where it's just a bit seedy, and about three hours drive away is some of the best of Bali. Beautiful lush scenery, rich in tradition and culture that is wonderfully proud and kept alive by its people. Great food that is simple, cheap and easy to cook. Go to Bali and see it all, go explore and find out more than we did, just don't go to ...

... testing my patients. In the end I not only learnt how to make a flower offering I learnt a difficult lesson in patients as well as the skill itself. It does no good to think or make assumptions before attempting anything new. A lesson I need a repetitious reminder of some times. The thin bamboo stick used as a needle and thread to attach all the pieces of the offering together is strong enough to break through the leaves the offering is made of, but is too brittle to be man ...

Hired a scooter for the day and explored the north of the island. First went to Lovina which is situated along the main 'coast' road and so really busy and unattractive. The beach is nothing to write home about either! The coast road is actually inland slightly so I didn’t get any nice sea views the whole way to Singaraja where i turned off to go to Bedugul where lake Danau Beratan is. After lakes Maninjau and Toba on Sumatra it pales into insignificance however. Nonetheless ...
