Having met up with our Chiang Mai buddies in Koh Phi Phi (whaddup Izzy and Jack), our twosome became a foursome as we headed to Koh Lanta! We arrived with nowhere to stay and somehow ended up in a hippy village, but who can say no to a bamboo hut for £1.80 a night?! Once you got used to the numerous cockerels, chickens, dogs and cats, it was totally rad man...peace and love. Our first day was spent comatose on a deserted beach, one of ...

In case it wasn't clear that Phuket wasn’t exactly my favorite stop in the trip and quite disappointing, then Koh Phi Phi (or Phi Phi Islands) did everything to repair it and make up for the let down! Cheap rooms and nice staff and as we where such a big group we had 4 bamboo huts in a little area of the hostel all to ourselves. As it was late we refreshed and found somewhere to eat. As Ko Lanta is an island and famous for its fresh fish that was quickly decided to be the meal of choice and a place called the Funky ...

... a bit ridiculous and so the place was crazy busy. Luckily our guy found us and we clung on to eachother as he zoomed over potholes and weaved in and out of mo-peds and tuk-tuks to arrive at our resort a speedy 20 minutes later. The Lanta Halabala resort promises 18 free standing bungalows on stilts about halfway down the west coast of Ko Lanta. The resort of Saladan (where we arrived) in the north seemed pretty touristy and crowded and ...

... an all-day four-island snorkeling tour that includes lunch and door-to-door pick-up/drop-off service tomorrow. I figure I'll get a better deal at the pier. The guy there says that it's normally 900 baht at the ticket offices, but he'll cut me a deal for 700 baht. Gee, thanks. Instead I go to Old Lanta Town, the national park on the island, and cool off at a picturesque beach.
