We explained that wouldn't work, as we had already paid for our room in Arica that night (not to mention that almost all of our clothes were currently mid-rinse-cycle back at the hostel, and would need to line dry after that). The next place we wanted to get to San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. After reading some forums on the internet we realised it wasn't going to be an easy one bus journey.
