        I hired a smart car crossblade(google it) before we left NZ, and we were suppose to meet them in Firas main square at 9am. We waited and waited, then called them to find out where it was. Turns out the car had been in an accident, but they offered us a bigger car at same price, declined it! Went looking for another car and got a plain smart car. Drove aaaallllll over Santorini. ...

        ... early and had a small breakfast with the intention of doing most of our three hour walk to Oia (pronounced ear) before the hottest part of the day. It is a fantastically scenic walk along the cliff top of the caldera. We took lots of pictures. The wildflowers were in bloom and the volcanic rocks were a distinctive white, red and black.

        ... hotels have a view). We have a great view from our room / (shared) balcony and the pool. Our room is decorated with "authentic" Greek items which is nice. It is painted all white and a "cave" room which is "carved" (somewhat) into the environment. One advantage helps it regulate temperature, though the weather is great here (70s with a nice breeze).
