... sunset is worthy of applause...

Our last day was spent riding some quad bikes around the entire island. We started in Perissa and made our way north then back south. The island itself isn't very big so we were more than able to see the entire island within the day. The ride was fun and the boys did a good job driving them up some very steep hills. The other more popular sights we saw was the town of Fira, the lighthouse and red beach. ...

... a chicken vegetable soup with the very limited utensils we had in the room. I was quite proud of myself because there is only a medium size pot and portable stove, a knife (I bought from NYC) and cutlery. The soup was great because the produce around here is just friggin' awesome. Its hard to go wrong.

... being taken to Australia at the age of 12 to work as a maid in Canberra, where she ended up working for Harold Holt's family for two years, going to America for a number of years to work, before returning to Greece, marrying and opening her own restaurant. The food we ate that night was sublime with fava, stuffed vegetables and tomato fritters washed down with a locally made wine. We left Mama, promising to return before our visit was over.

Our days here begin slowly ...
