... canal. We went down the grand canal on private water taxis ( if you saw the pictures of George clooney's wedding you would have seen him riding in these private taxis) the rain stopped for long enough to stand outside and see the view and take some photos. We arrived at San Marco square and then walked to one of the oldest hotels, Danieli for a glass of champagne. It was hen back to the hotel for dinner. We have two nights in Venice so hopefully the weather improves ...

Getting on to the train to Venice was a circus. There were crowds of people ...

... we pick a pizza restaurant. The pizza arrives with cold wet meat on top and I tell the waitress, who takes it back to the chief who is in front of us behind a glass panel. We hear him crack up at her and she said "they only speak English" . We get the pizza back and it's soggy and discussing. We walk out without paying for our beer. We go to the same restaurant as the night before and have pizza, which wasn't as nice. We go to bed ...

... to grab a bite to eat and keep moving, you can grab a sandwich or pizza slice to go for a few euros. If you are tired from walking for hours and want to sit and eat, the closer you are to water the more expensive it's going to get. Looking for lunch today we found a place serving pizza next to the Rialto bridge. We were crammed into a tiny nook and handed menus with prices that made the eyebrows meet the hairline, AND there was no pizza. Pizza was being eaten at tables around us. We ...
