... have these short trips across The canal at major bridge crossing.I guess they are sort of paying homage to the days when there were only gondolas transporting people around these water ways. Fun fact : there are currently 500 gondolas in Venice. There used to be 5000. another fun fact: there are two rats for every one person in Venice. This is improved situation from Paris where there are FOUR for every person. We learnt this because we actually saw a ...

Today we started off at the dogi palace. We toured the dogi apartment and learned about Venetian government. We crossed the Bridge of Sighs to the prison. My favorite wine was actually the dessert wine which tasted ...

We spend about an hour searching for the bus stop (next to the train station). It's a horrible walk and we are all angry and cold and tired. We get there and just get into a cab so we can get home fast. By the time we get back, it's almost 6am! We go straight to bed and sleep until my alarm goes ...

... flowers, and a golden mosaic of the Madonna in the dome. A short stop at Cemetery island made us realise why the Venetians would chose to be buried or cremated here. It has gardens and peace and quiet that is hard to find in Venice. The most famous though modest burial here is of Igor Stravinsky and his wife. Lido was very busy and we were unsure if the film festival created this or the perennial interest in the beaches. Sand and very gentle waters attract many, along ...
