4 Avenue du Marechal Juin Cannes, French Riviera - Cote d'Azur, Provence, France
ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.
Monaco, Monaco tilmanI know I always write the same...great weather, such a nice city, good food....but I have to say that Nice was a (very) big surprise for me, I can say that it is my favourite city in Europe (ok, number 2 after Lisbon). You have the mountains, the Cote dŽAzur (when you see the water you know why the name is Cote dŽAzur), the market with fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, oil, soap, you have great restaurants ...
Nice, Provence, France tilman... gesture. We can't change the world but we can change the way these children start off in life and who knows where that will lead....
It is less than 4 weeks now until I leave. There is much to do. I am trying to prepare myself for "teaching" 20 - 25 children. A bit of a challenge that. Much as I have known that I have always wanted to do something like this, now that it ...
... if we want to via a plug in the side of Scooby. We've only hooked up to mains twice and found that we can charge all our gadgets from the leisure battery without running out of power. Laptop, Camera, phone, iPod, eBook and GPs. The fridge goes 3 ways off Mains when plugged in, off battery when the car is running and off gas when stationary. Mad Mary We have a GPS with EU maps installed. She was christened Mad Mary by the previous owner due to her sometimes ...
Les Arcs sur Argens, Provence, France darrenhough74On this morning we left Switzerland and travelled south into Italy en-route to the French Riviera. The scenery was pretty spectacular, with snow-white capped, jagged mountains that seemed to swallow the highway. Surreal!
When we arrived at our hotel we had about 30 mins to get ready for our trip into Monaco! On our drive to Monaco we crossed the bridge that Grace Kelly was killed on in a car accident. The roads are ...
... meager with dinners, eating whatever the roast of the day was at the hostel for 6.50 or slightly dodgy pizzas, which were sometimes nice, and sometimes not. So yeah, nice to treat ourselves.
Our stay in the hotel was was lovely and we've decided to try and treat ourselves before we get to that shabby state again. Its amazing how quickly you forget the basic luxuries; one bed without a seam or a bar in the middle, one doona to share rather than two small single ones, a bathmat and ...
... town just west of Cannes since Cannes was booked up due to some business conference going on. Anywho-On Tuesday, I had class all day until 3:35, but I met my mom in downtown Cannes with Kenna. My dad was sick, so he wasn't able to join us. Us three walked around for a little while and ate some bread and cheese. After some more time in town, we decided to all take the bus back to La Napoule for dinner. There weren't any open restaurants so we ate a mediocre "French ...
Cannes, France ross26green... When we got to the Louvre, we decided not to go in because we only had a short time and we wanted to see more of the city. We continued walking along the Siene River toward the Eiffel Tower and it was beautiful!! I am very happy that we were able to see the sights, but also a little disappointed that we did not have time to see more and spend more time there. I guess I have a ...
Cannes, Provence, France tanarae01... our hotel was next door to a Chabad school. For the first day we just kinda explored by foot, saw the sights and shops, and took it easy. We had dinner at a nice little place where we and this Italian family were the only non locals. I had the most amazing leg of lamb ever, with delicious little green beans. Jessica had Boeuf Borguignionne. Citron tart for dessert was beyond description.
Cannes, France mwolf... believe the prices in the storefront windows. $2,000 dresses, $1,000 pairs of shoes, $500 day planners, these were just some of the extravagances that could be bought here. Picking our way through the Ferraris and Jaguars we made our way to a Vietnamese restaurant (of all things) for lunch and then McDonalds for dessert. These were all we could afford in this town! Katie picked us up after work, and when we asked her ...
