... for less than 2hrs, when I feel someone shaking me. Burton is waking me up, saying "Matt, your tour bus is here!" I had forgotten about the day tour that I had booked. I jumped up, quickly whacked on some clothes, grabbed my camera and jumped on the shuttle bus. I lay across the seats and passed out immediately. We were transferred to a larger bus. ... walked up to the church and Mary statue, then took pictures over the city. Back down and walked to Mercado Central where we had seafood and got talked into the cold seafood platter by the waiter which we regretted, it's not that the seafood wasn't beautifully fresh but some of the things were a bit beyond our clearly underdeveloped and unadventurous palates - various squishy things! Think the seafood stew and pie we originally wanted may have been a better bet. Next stop ...

... so I took the free tour of Santiago where the Human rights museum and beautiful views from San Cristobal Hill turned out to be the highlights. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Chile and left with the thought that I may well be back at some point to explore the north or south. ... amp; the line actually ended where I needed to get off, so easy peasy! That's what I hate about public buses, unless you know the area you have no idea what the stops are! It's not like a train station that (usually) has signs all alone it to say your at so&so station, just a stop on the side of the road that could have been anywhere! As it turns out, once in the city of Santiago, they actually had proper stops with signs saying just that! ...

... Bicentenario, following along the river and street for many kilometres. Eventually we ended up at our accommodation, The Orly Hotel. Much fancier than the low budget hostels I have come accustomed too in south east Asia, it was wonderful to be greeted at the door.
