Aonang Tropical Resort

This was a quiet few days stay, very touristy here, markets selling the same stuff one stall after another.... Marcus has been unwell so trying to sleep it off so we have just been by the pool chillin and strolling around the town and seafront... Looking forward to tomorrow, we go to Phi Phi Don....
... but when the sun comes out its bloody boiling which is lovely although I am rubbish at sunbathing these days, half an hour on the beach and I’m fighting people for a spot of shade under a tree. The actual town is a bit odd, quite developed and touristy but still quite run down and rough around the edges. I’ve managed to sample some tasty food in the evenings, chilli clams and prawns, coconut shrimp, crazy good salty BBQ corn. It’s not as cheap as Bangkok but being ...
... one in Phi Phi. I’m not sure how we forget them but it’s becoming a joke! This time we found a hardware store and got a line for 40 pence, its hopefully going to be our last but who knows !!
We got chatting to Hannah and Sebastian by the pool that afternoon, they live in Berlin (Hannah is from Australia). We had dinner with them that evening and ended up drinking at the hotel bar until late, they closed up around us! It was a great night, ...
... thought we'd indulge in a Thai massage finally. When the Thais use the word massage, they use it loosely! After lying down on a comfortable bed two Thai ladies mounted us and performed what some might describe a mild torture techniques. They use mainly their elbows, knees and feet to stretch you into all sorts of positions and dig in to 'massage' out any knots. Nat quite enjoyed his and could be heard cracking and clicking every few moves, whereas Izzy didn't crack at all ...
... hit some trees then worked its way free and off it went. I hope Shelly's wish comes true for the amount of work it was to get this bird in the air......
Back to base and it is like a freakin sauna here - humidity must be off the charts and I reckon the air temp is low 30's making that old humidex something like 40ish? I dunno but it's hot, hot, hot.
But we have air conditioning in our unit and we are using it tonite.
How has this hotel rated in the past?
We booked for 3 days in a superior room and on arrival was upgraded to the deluxe accommodation. The huts are a good size for 2 with a nice size bathroom and a sit out verandah with an overhead roof so keeps it lovely and cool. The air con is the best yet! Works really well.
We have a tv in the room but does not work so not sure why it's provided. When we asked they said no tv's work here...? We also do not get supplied tea or coffee in the rooms which we found strange in 'deluxe' accommodation.
The pool is lovely, cleaned daily and plenty of sunbeds to choose from.
Overall the resort is great and would recommend to anyone. Well worth a stop over!
