... place called Altus, which was in the middle of nowhere and with lots of closed up businesses. And it was stinking hot - 37 degrees! The next bigger town was about another hour away and we decided to give the local Best Western a go - they had rooms, but it was a huge mistake! ... temp was 99! It's now 101 as I write this and the wind is blowing across this crazy odd landscape at high speed. Dinner, I think, will consist of leftovers.....it's too darn hot to cook! Oh, and as a bonus, Walmart is right around the corner to restock all those necessities! Tomorrow we'll head toward Albuquerque....Go west young ...
... 27 tonight for our camping and that includes full hook-up with Wi-FI. CHEAP! And where we are tonight is right next to WalMart. WooHoo! We went right over and bought some beer and a big bag of ice to cool it down to ICE cold.

... all in one day. After sunset we went to a few hip rooftop bars on Sixth Street to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. On our way out of the giant state the next morning, we dove through Houston and decided to stop by NASA to see how they were doing. We went on the tour of mission control and the test facility for the O'Ryan space program. It was a privilege to see first hand the NASA staff at work on an upcoming project and a future mission.
