The name “Bahias de Huatulco” is a reflection of the local geography that is highlighted by nine spectacular bays along this part of the Pacific Coast. It was in 1983 that FONATUR, Mexico’s tourism development agency started Huatulco Bays as their 5th major resort area. Almost everything that exists here today is a result of those efforts.

... Africa on the place. This morning, I was writing in my journal, looking out at the ocean, and the hotel started playing this African music (not in Swahili, but definitely in some Bantu language that I could understand a few words of)... I don't know how to explain what I felt. I'm going to spend today, since it's kind of rainy, being introspective, and reading and writing. Tomorrow, I'm going to go boogie boarding. :) Monday, I go to Puerto Escondido.

... Mazunte means 'Please come here and spawn' and while it would be nice to think its for us humans, its actually for the giant sea turtles that live around there! Oh so cute! But apart from the Turtle museum there isn't too much else so we went to San Agustinillo nearby. It was perfect! A tiny town and the first place on the beach we picked had a room which was great! Hammock outside, big room and bathroom, if plain, but with a priceless view ...

We told him that we were planning on heading to Puerto Escondido or Zipolite. He assured us that Mazunte was absolutely beautiful and also not nearly as touristy as the other beaches. ... beach. We headed for the world renown mexican pipeline and sat on the beach and watched the surfers. The waves were massive, i´ve never seen them so big, so big infact that the surfers were scared of them!!!!
