Great little inn. Owners were very helpful and charming. We had the Garden Suite, huge room, with a separate living room, small bathroom, and kitchenette. Great deal, and great location.

Today was a designated tourist day. Stuck around Hot Springs and did what other tourists do. The day started out with a trip to the Buckstaff Bath House. I expected today to be quiet and uneventful. Thought I was being clever, and checked the weather in Tuscaloosa and Hot Springs before we left. Both had little or no rain in the forecast for today. So I went ahead and booked us into the Alpine Inn for 2 nights and set out what was expected to be a long but boring journey. What I forgot to check was …

It was approximately 400 "extra" miles, but at this point that did t seem like a big deal After about 2 hour of small, narrow road driving, mostly behind oil carrying big rigs, I decided I've had enough of the desert and it was time to head east. I changed direction and headed toward Arkansas. After a night in Eastland Texas, I sped a good portion of the day finishing my drive to Hot Springs NP. ...

We had an early dinner -- linner? dunch? -- at the Bleu Monkey Grill next door to our motel (shrimp tacos for me, ...

... a steady progression of motorcycles and occasional hot rods parade up and down the main drag. The noise level, both inside the tasting room and out was quite "impressive" though hardly relaxing. So Patty decide to take the waters -- whirlpool bath, steam, needle shower, and massage -- the full package. I took to the trails on Hot Springs Mountain. She came out relaxed and rosy; I returned a little sweaty (but pleased ...
