... square in Carmelo had a couple of options, one of which worked.

Turns out the hostel does not exist where stated and most
hotels near the river, about 10 blocks from the Plaza. Had to go to the ferry
terminal to get decent info and a map and then settled on a nearby hotel after
exhausting 3 other, 2 of which were unmanned – 700 pesos and not nice!

... still looking for reports as to how many hands, faces were burnt! It was pretty cool being so close though. We rode bikes to another town that was much more Noosa-esqu and realised we should have stayed there. Oh well. We're not sure why Uruguay is so expensive. I think it is due to the tourism period only being a couple of months so they make the most of it. The country is infiltrated with Brazilians and Argentinians, the former looking for somewhere safer ...

We had a beautiful day in Punta del Este with temperatures into the mid 30s. We ran and walked on the upper deck at sunrise, then off for the city tour. There are very upscale restaurants everywhere. ... she had three of the pea sized bugs on her body and had been bitten across her neck, shoulders, and chest. Patricia, as well as 4 of our other roommates were present when the bugs were found on her body.
