... surf all along the coast on the eastern side of the peninsula. We got back into Punta del Este, and decided we were ready for lunch. We drove around looking at various places, and even parked at one place to look at the menu. We both decided that the food was so good at the place where we had lunch yesterday, that we’d just go back there. After all, they have a nice deck, the weather was nice again, and we already knew what we liked there.

... we arrived, so treated ourselves to an awesome seafood platter and then checked out the beach. It was freezing but there were about 20 surfers in the water. I get that surfers 'live' for the waves - I've seen Point Break - but they are all loco if you ask me.

Uruguay is apparently a very laid back country and we've only heard good things about it, so we were surprised at the number of rude and unhelpful ...

... This museum really encourages people to get close and more involved with the art works and is a must for any tourist here.

Tour then went through the old parts of Maldonado which is actually the Capital of the area - but the suburbs merge with Punta del Este, and the one to Punta Ballena and the famous Casa Pueblo, built and owned by famous artist Paez Vilaro. Today we took a road trip south of Punta,

First we went to Casa Pueblo, the house and art gallery of the famous artist Carlos Paez Villaro. You cant take a wrong picture here everywhere you look its a great view. Only suggestion I will give you is find out if there is a cruise ship in town cause if there is this place is full of day trippers and makes it really busy and ...

This peninsula is very cosmopolitan.

the beaches are wide sandy beaches the water was too cold for my liking but we are on holidays so who cares. we walked the main shopping area "gorlero" which is over priced but you can find the hidden treasures if you listen to the locals. we took our hire car and headed for the "puerto" and had lunch at a Chiveteria overlooking the marina.
