... more time in the mountains and less time
in Munich as he drifted into his fantasy world. Ludwig II increasingly identified himself with Parzival, a legendary medieval figure who became the Grail King through his purity and faith.

Ludwig was so intrigued that he asked Wagner to write an opera about it, which he did in 1877. Wagner and his circle privately even referred to Ludwig as "Parsifal", and his problems were incorporated into the drama of the Grail. ...

... a few great German beers. As we were leaving the restaurant to walk back to our apartment we noticed an approaching storm and could see the lightning off in the distance. We decided we could make it back before it hit and started walking. The scenery helps and, in many ways, that can only get better with Austria, Slovenia and Croatia to come. I honestly don't get people who don't get nature or the landscapes that nature forms. I could drive around the world forever. Just ...

... two down from our hostel. Luckily they had English menus, as we aren't always able to decipher the German. We had salads, burgers and cocktails as that was their evening special. Upon returning to our room we decided to go for a drink with two of our hostel mates. It was a lovely conversation of the struggles of travelling in Germany without knowing the language. One was from Brazil, and the other Korea. Tomorrow is our last full day in Munich, luckily it's supposed to be sunny and ...
