... deer run away as soon as they see you. This has meant that we have got to see the deer and fawns up close. Our first tour of the farm was a guided tour in Huw's truck, with Sophie calling shot gun for the front not realising this means gate duties in farm life!

... a 15kn stretch of barren volcanic ash fields built up over 2000 years of eruptions, the last being in 2012 evidence of which was still smoking on the volcano at the side of the road. ... ten days is filling up with visits to friends we made when we lived here. We went to the Feilding Farmers' market in the morning and then to the Feilding Coach House Museum. This is one of the jewels of the region. It is a huge building filled with horse drawn vehicles of every kind from ploughs to ladies carriages, as well as a great number of motorized tractors and other farm machinery.
