... an inverted Y. As it is located just 40km north of Milan, and also on the border with Switzerland, it attracts plenty of visitors and quite a few wealthy ones too, a certain Mr G. Clooney has a place round here somewhere, as do Madonna and Gianni Versace.

... hadn't realised when we stopped in Bellinzona last night that it is a Unesco World Heritage listed site, as it has 3 magnificent castles built in the 13th, 14th & 15th centuries and surrounded by a high city wall, and then surprisingly the weekend was also Unesco 'open house' weekend, so all buildings were open and free to the public.

... Second challenge was in checkin queue. The woman in front had 44kg of luggage and was trying not to pay for it. She had books out, stuff strewn everywhere, suitcase open, in an attempt to decrease weight. But woman behind counter was wise to her and got her to weigh her handbag. The negotiations continued. Saved by the woman on the next counter. And there is another side saga here. . . . ...

... was out and we got a glimpse of what Como must really be like in the summer. It was marvelous and the town Duomo in the centre was a sight to see. We wandered around the streets taking in all we missed over the last two days and sat outside a café eating Croissants and drinking orange juice people watching. Less than an hour after leaving Milano's central train station, we were in another world, and it was hard to believe the dramatic change in scenery as we entered Italy’s Lakes district.
