... was our first "comfort stop" and we attempted our first spoken Italian, ordering a latte macchiato, I guess it was successful as it arrived and tasted nice. One thing we are finding it hard to get used to ispaying to use the toilet, at this stop I saw a Kenyan guy outside the loo and after warnings about pick pockets, I decided to hold on a little longer and just get coffee. ... breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, and the selection was incredible. Jess and I refilled our plates at least 4 times before we even moved on to dessert. Our staterooms were ready around 1.30, but our luggage wasn't delivered to our rooms until 5ish, so we couldn't go for a swim or anything. ... one has a Venetian gondola and a rowing boat both filled to with books, a couple of bathtubs overflowing with literature and a smattering of resident cats sleeping merrily on piles of magazines. Out the back is a staircase made of old books, giving visitors a peek over the back wall onto the canal. The 'fire exit' is just an open doorway onto the water, the level barely below the shop floor.
