... this afternoon there was a guy with his wife and kid on one and he was singing oh sole mio very loudly and very well. We heard the song and then when the gondola came through the tunnel and we saw it was a passenger singing everyone clapped. The gondolier was just laughing. We started by taking the water bus out to Murano before everything closed for the afternoon. And again, we though Murano was a tiny island off of Venice but it's ...

Arriving at the train station in Venice I was not expecting the famous canals to be immediately in front of me! The surreal site, just like in postcards, took my breath away and this feeling of being in a fairyland continued throughout our time in Venice. We went out for a meal, making sure we checked our route for landmarks; we had thought of marking marks with a texta. We made sure we didn't go too far.

We all met in St. Mark's square for lunch. We found a nearby restaurant the hotel had recommended. Osteria Da Carla was a small establishment with a menu that changed daily.

After lunch, Dad went back to the hotel and all others continued shopping in the rain. Shopping was a nice way to spend our last afternoon in Venice, even though it was raining.

    Dad highlight - Doge's palace
Dad lowlight - the rain. It ...

... 18. THEN it's about 11am, we've got to be back to check in by 2pm at the very latest. Walk from airport terminal to Pier, about 10 minutes away, wanting to head to Burano, BUT you have to get to Murano first, another €60 return, Burano is another half hour away and another €56 return Burano-Murano. So ..... Given we have a 20 minute wait until the next Murano boat and it's a 30 minute boat ride there and 30 minute boat ride back, ...
