Sailing Into Venice, Doge's Palace and Glass

A travel blog entry by andbrown

... the Venetians are a little rebellious and have been excommunicated from the Vatican on several occasions throughout history. After the church we were off to a glass factory for another demonstration. It is pretty amazing to watch the artisans work. In no time it went from a red hot ball into a beautiful flower vase. We wandered through the gallery but didn't buy anything. It was beautiful but VERY expensive. 150€ per gold embossed wine glass or 1250€ for a set ...

Here we learnt that some of the ladies on the tour are a bit special and need to be told instructions a million ...

Regardless, getting lost in Venice is not only memorable, but again adventurous. Just be brave to not follow the crowd leading to the most popular areas.

On the first night, my wife and I ventured out - I believe the time was around midnight. We ate pizza and ran into the locals. The locals were extremely friendly; one gentlemen I'll never forget was around my age and his wife was expecting ...
