... We did have to wear crampons on our feet. There were little streams of water and mini waterfalls everywhere!!. There were "glacier gardeners" working with rakes on the glaciers, removing exposed rocks that were potentially hazards if they were to fall and hit someone. ... to go half way to the Windy Lookout and the Wind Farm Lookout and then come back. It was a really good bush walk, about three hours, lots of ups and downs, but a decent track. Windy Lookout was awesome because to our left we could see the Manawatu and to our right was Tararua. Just beautiful.

By the time we had lunch it was already 4pm, so we were a bit late ...

On the positive side we did avoid getting food poisoning by eating only in the hotels or at large restaurants, drinking only bottled water, and avoiding ice and all uncooked food that couldn't be peeled. Regular use of hand sanitizer (not something we use much at home) may also have helped. Not eating any of the local street fast food did however mean that we didn’t get a good idea of what the real cost of things were in India. A negative of the trip is that India ...
