... the dirt track which will take you about 20 minutes. Or you can walk which will take you about one hour. We chose, as did the German couple we were with to walk. We were the only tourist that walk it. and yes, it was dusty and hot and hard work but i would much prefer to earn my own way to the top than have the help of our four legged friends!
... could’ve taken a mule to the top and back down for a lot of money, but because the animals looked half dead already, it didn’t seem fair … even if walking up didn’t seem like a good idea. We eventually made it to the top in a sweaty mess and covered in black dust. The smell of sulfur was almost nauseating, and the lake within the volcano was a very unhealthy green colour. After a restful lunch I was taken to another village supported by the college where they did have water from a well but no electricity. The School has built the first 8 properties - 25 SQ Metres each but had run out of money for the finishing of a further 8. These are just shells and they are looking for another £2200 to finish.
