... so I could take the only guest room at Isi and Jacqueline's home. Thanks again Nat as I clearly got the better of that deal what with the Ibis Budget hotel not being quite so lovely as my accommodations. We spent our first day in Brussels drinking a lot of coffee (much needed), eating, meeting distant but super nice family members, and chatting about many things but of course mostly about family history.

... we spent 30 minutes trying to find a waffle place, but NO where was open that late... The only real disappointment of the night. It was about time for Olivia and I to head home. ... upon bike trail. Except for very small parts of Brussels and the very end of Mechelen, where we are tonight, the entire day was on cycle routes! At about the half-way point(what was supposed to be) we arrived in the Oude Market of Leuven. It was lovely. ... We sat ourdoors at "L’Estanibet Kelderke" and I had mussels in wine & cream sauce and chips (French fries) while Salina had the lunch deal: soup of the day and lamb. Overall, the food was ok but I think the Mussels I had in Nice was better. Food was a bit slow but that’s to be expected in a ‘French’ country.
