      ... at by another traveller and in the guidebook so we got a tuk-tuk there. We had to wake the guy up on reception and got a rather frosty greeting but we paid for a room anyway and got shown up. The place was a hell-hole, cockroaches in the bathroom, paint peeling off the wall, matresses strewn across the corridor - it looked like a prison/old hospital/something from a horror movie. We couldn't stay there so we managed to get our money back and swiftly left into the dark streets ...

      ... so I’m aware you can take a more expensive option, but from what I saw they are all pretty bad), no air conditioning on most cars, they’re crowded (some girls ended up having to sit in the overhead luggage compartment), very stinky (every time the train stops you smell human excrement), there are beggars constantly guilting you out of change, the stops are not announced, people are pushing to get on as you are trying to get off, and the worst for me was the roaches that ...

      ... to our room, I am pretty certain the words 'It can't be as bad as Delhi' casually slipped out of our mouths. How wrong we were.Citizen Lodge in Bangalore is just that, for citizens. I.e. not for anyone with dignity or concerns for their health. The bed was grimy and slightly stained, and the bathroom was little more than a hole in the ground, and the shower was just a pipe emerging from the wall about 5ft off the floor. And the floor ...

      ... camera was doing, as there was so much to see and listen to. Also keep in mind that this was early in the morning on a Saturday, so you don't get the "rush hour" perspective but for those who like to look at foreign advertising and landscapes -- this should do the trick. You will also notice a large corporate office of a famous computer manufacturer who is clearly outsourcing a lot to Bangalore, lol...
