A day of high drama that began smoothly. We were heading south east towards Erfoud and then, on the following day, Merzouga where we would meet the Sahara. The vehicle was a Mercedes van, so we all fitted comfortably, and Farass a careful, considerate driver who knew the roads well. He lives with his three children and wife in Marrakech, and was once a bus driver. As we drove he quietly pointed out things of interest, characteristically unable to pronounce the letter 'r'. ...

No doubt he saw Jeremy as a fool, but still, he travelled a long way with us, as far as Agadir, a huge coastal city. Although the evening was soon upon us, we decided to carry on with our hitching. Hicham even said he would have taken us all the way ...

... of water in our tank. We’ll likely stay here two nights…. To be continued.

Later in the evening…. We can see why this is a highly recommended destination. It has a fascinating medina with some amazing contrasts… the west side is touristy with some rather nice galleries, craft shops and restaurants, while the north east side is very much traditional and oriented toward locals… very few tourists to be seen. Pat rather liked ...
