... stayed at Sucuraj, there was a ferry port in town and not much else to see or do when we arrived. The next day we decided to see more of Hvar town and hike up the hill to the fortress. The fortress construction started in 1282 by the Venetians. In 1571 Hvar was sacked by the Turkish fleet on its way to the Battle of Lepanto, and only the fortress saved the townspeople. ... for Grace & Mitch (Mitch = iPad time!) over lunch, work for Stew and then more swimming/beaching in the afternoon. Some mornings we changed things up with breakfast at the Hula Hula bar & afternoons spent jumping off the jetty. We had a quiet little bay immediately beneath the house. Today we transferred from the island of Brac to the island of Hvar. Because of the logistics (check out, bus transfer, boat to Hvar, bus transfer from Jelsa to hotel in Hvar Town) it was a light biking day. ... the lakes with the teaming hordes. This is certainly cruise ship territory.
We can see a small cruise ship anchored within walking distance of our apartment here in Korcula. Consequently the old town was overrun yesterday. Within walking distance we have a bar where 2 amazing guitarists and vocalists perform each night. Guess what we've been doing each night AND WE HAVE THE CD!
We haven't swum here yet but ...
