Flug von Amami-Ōshima zum Haneda Airport in Tokyo. Dann mit Metro, JR und Taxi nach Narita ins Hotel. Leider etwas weit weg, zumal ich am nächsten Tag wieder nach Tokyo zurück gehe. Me and my family decided to go back to Japan for the winter, and we flew from Hilo to Honolulu which just had a major power outage, and then on to Narita, Japan.

I took a walk to downtown from the hotel. It took about 1 hour (I have short legs). I visited the railroad engine exhibit/playground and then saw all the vendors selling stuff on the way to the temple. There were a lot of people at the temple since they were welcoming in the new year. They buy pieces of paper with wishes on them and burn them in...

Finally got off the plane!! Felt like forever and a day. It was Dramatically colder off the plane than on. We followed the lady seated in front of us on the plane to a "shuttle" (train) we had to get from our gate to the main terminal for Quaratine. Most of the staff spoke English thank goodness. Both Amba and i got our finger prints and photos ...

Staying overnight at the Nikko Narita airport hotel, compliments of JAL, Japan Airlines. Having previously been given 10,000 yen from a Japanese friend back home (~$140 NZ), spent about half of this on an authentic Japanese style meal at the hotel restaurant. A bit pricey for one meal but hey, my friend had meant for me to eat real Japanese food...

Temple, noodles, fire, rain on the lake, shopping, bridges and language barrier. I did not find people overly willing to speak English, which made for some elaborate gesticulating.
